Diabetes is one of the chronic diseases which
refer to the increase of glucose or sugar in the blood. Insulin produced by the
pancreas is a hormone help in glucose regulation in the blood.
The diseases frequency is continuously
increasing, and as per estimates from the year 2014, there are approximately
422 million people currently with diabetes. Diabetes can lead to several other
diseases such as kidney, limb amputation, and even death in some cases.
In the year 2015, it was reported that there
were approximately 1.6million deaths because of diabetes. People who are
suffering from diabetes have a very tough life because there are several things
they have to maintain such as a healthy and active lifestyle. If diabetes is
not in the initial stage, then they also to take regular medications as well.
The life has become more mechanical, and
everything is relying on technology making us more lethargic and inactive. The
cherry on the cake is the diet we follow is total junk along with soft drinks
which hamper our body system even more.
Ayurveda and the concept of diabetes:
In the theory of Ayurveda Dubai, anything negative happening in our body are because
of imbalance between the three doshas which are actually body type.
In the Ayurvedic language, the word used for
diabetes is madhumeha, and this means
sweet urine if we literally translate from Sanskrit to English. This is explanatory
in the scientific terms because when the glucose levels are high in blood beyond
a tolerating threshold, then the reaction will be seen in the urine of the
human. Usually, the initial symptoms are also observed through urine and urine
test is also carried out for the confirmation of diabetes.
In Ayurvedic terms, the disease has occurred
because of imbalance in the hormone of body tissues resulting in an imbalance
in the metabolism.
Type 2 diabetes and Kapha Dosha:
It is one of the types which occurred in the
later stages of life, but because of changing lifestyle and food pattern the
incidence has been reported in children and adults.
The Ayurvedic
Dubai theory considered that imbalance in the diabetes is because of imbalance
in the Kapha Dosha. This dosha consists of earth and water elements and are
responsible for looking after the physical body structure and other metabolic
processes.
When dosha has an imbalance, then it means it
can lead to weight gain and a lethargic condition. Excessive appetite is one of
the causal factors for the emergence of the type 2 diabetes
The imbalance can be regulated by understanding
the trigger points and managing according to the trigger point such as
pacifying medicine. The pacifying diet might not be good in taste, but they are
going to be worth in terms of ensuring the health of the individuals.
Kapha based recommended diet:
When it comes to Ayurveda Dubai, then there are certain factors which are considered
while preparing the diet plan. These factors are age, body structure, season
and other conditions which directly impact the health of an individual.
But here are some of the generalized tips
which can help in maintaining the diet:
- Consume the foods which are from your dominant dosha or the ones which are going to balance the dosha. The Kapha usually prefer foods which are dry and warm.
- The intake of dairy should come to a moderate, and if it is absolutely necessary, then low-fat milk and yogurt are your best options. (Side tip, if you do not like anything from the dairy then going for the ginger tea option is the best thing to do.)
- Having meals high in the bean is a good choice because for this Kapha the beans are good and will bring moderation in imbalance.
- Except for salt, all the spices are great to pacify or balance the Kapha.
Summing up, diabetes
is a chronic disease, but with simple lifestyle changes, it can be managed. The
Ayurvedic perspective is aligning with western treatment which is diet, and
daily lifestyle can bring the balance in the doshas. Choosing a diet based on
your body type can give a lot of insight about the type of foods but also help
you live a healthy life.
